Ethics from a Christian perspective - a four-week exploration

As humans we face all sorts of moral choices. As Christians we want those choices to be pleasing to God, based on what he says is right and wrong.
How can we develop a Christian mindset so that we can make good moral choices? How can we contribute positively to society, so that our communities might benefit from our Godly wisdom?
Join us for four sessions this spring in which Rev Gary will teach on this subject, with plenty of time for questions and discussion.

Session 1: Laying foundations: how can we develop a Christian ethic?

Session 2: “The world's gone woke!” - discuss. A Christian view of equality, diversity and the legacy of colonialism.

Session 3: “God's going to create a new heaven and earth... so we don't need to bother too much looking after this one” - discuss. A Christian view of creation care.

Session 4: “Borders are just a human construct to protect wealth” - discuss. A Christian view of nationhood, who should be welcomed and who should be "sent home".

Getting clued up about domestic abuse - Tuesday 12th March, 10.00am, venue tbc

It is estimated that one in five UK residents suffer domestic abuse at some point in their lives. The Church of England offers a short basic training course to help people be aware of the issues and respond appropriately.
The course can be taken online here: https://safeguardingtraining.cofeportal.org/
We will be working through this course together on the morning of Tuesday 12th March (venue tbc) for those who would prefer to look at the material with others, or who can't access the course online.
All mission council  members, PCC members or those who volunteer in an official capacity in our churches are required by the Church of England to complete this course. Others are welcome.

Passover supper—Thursday 28th March, Time and venue tbc

We are planning to hold a "Passover" supper at teatime on Maundy Thursday, giving people the opportunity to experience something of the Passover meal Jesus shared with his disciples. All are welcome, including children.
